MEET ROSIE – OUR LETTUCE GROW FARMSTAND
Starting a garden has been a bucket list goal of many for countless seasons. I can get lost on Instagram looking at gardening videos for hours!
With the best intention, I would begin our seedings and without fail, one of our Great Danes would knock the seedlings off the table. Of course, they looked super cute standing in the soil, which softened the blow of my gardening dreams.
This year, I was determined to plant a garden of epic proportions – 6 different beds with a variety of peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, Brussel Sprouts, and herbs.
When our travel trailer renovation became a priority the garden turned into something far more exciting.
We decided to purchase Lettuce Grow Farmstand instead.
The Lettuce Grow Farmstand is a hydroponic system that allows for 12 – 36 organic seedlings to be grown at once and makes the entire process of gardening a breeze. 15 – 20 minutes a week is all it takes to add water and nutrients which makes those who struggle with a green thumb a gardening pro.
Oh and those with limited space – the farmstand is perfect for patio, balcony, or apartment growing.
And, with their glow light system you are no longer limited to a spring/summer growing season which for those in the colder regions makes having fresh, organic produce readily available.
Day One – Seedling Unboxing and Farmstand Setup – recommendation – place the farmstand on a dolly to allow for rotation if sunlight does not fall on each side of the farmstand. Not a requirement!
Every morning since setting up the farmstand, I spend a few minutes after waking up to visit with the seedlings while sipping on a bit of coffee.
The growth has been incredible to witness and I am in awe of how quickly our seedlings have grown and are becoming ready for their first harvest.
And, Winston has become the defender of the garden and will lay in front watching as we add water or nutrients.
Our first seeding selection includes:
Week 5 – Our Bok Choy, Classic Butter Lettuce, and Baby Lettuce Mix are ready for either a full harvest or Cut-and-Come-Again harvesting when needed.
We have noticed a few Sugar Sprint Peas growing in addition to 4 -5 zucchini.
Should we fully harvest any of our seedlings, we will need to place an order for replacement seedings – which will most likely be for additional lettuce as we tend to have 1 – 2 salads a day.
In case you are curious – we decided on a Lettuce Grow with room for 18-seedlings and to be honest, I couldn’t imagine adding two additional tiers. Instead, I would suggest purchasing a second Farmstand to ease and maintenance as I feel our zucchini and sugar peas might try to overtake the entire farmstand in the coming weeks.
Oh, and how we decided to call her Rosie – my dad said that the Farmstand reminds him of Rosie from the Jetson’s and we couldn’t agree more!
