Why I started a heavy metal detox
Listening to my body and following a bit of gut instinct, I decided to begin a 10-day Heavy Metal Smoothie Detox.
This isn’t a weight-loss attempt, instead, it’s a way to rid my body of the heavy metals ingested through the foods we eat, kitchenware we use to heat and cook our foods, and combat environmental toxins. If you are at all curious to learn more about Heavy Metal Detoxing my first recommendation is to read this post by the Medical Medium.
What are noticeable symptoms from exposure to Heavy Metals?
First things first, not all toxins are harmful to use, but some can be potentially damaging. Especially if you have metal fillings or have had contrast dye injected for an MRI – (This was me back in March of 2020!). While most will say the contrast dye is excreted through urine, the dye can last in our system for days, weeks, months, and possibly years. Yikes, I signed myself up for this willingly!!!
Other chronic conditions or symptoms could possibly be related like:
- Bloating & Abdominal Pain
- Diarrhea, Constipation, or possibly both!
- Nutrient Deficiency
- Tingling & Numbness
- Dizziness and Vertigo
- Aches and Pains
- Sleep Challenges
- Hot Flashes
- Migraines and Headaches
- Mood Swings
- Menstrual Issues
With a list, this lengthy of symptoms other factors might be at play, but giving a smoothie a day a try seemed doable and tasty! And since there is no way to work around toxic heavy metals in our daily lives, opting to remove these toxins through food seems like an amazing start. Another option, I’ll share in the coming weeks is using a TRS spray – I’m still in the experimental phases and would prefer more insight before sharing my thoughts and feedback.
Sadly the smoothies you get at your local smoothie shop or from the gas station more than likely are only helping your sweet tooth and not as powerful as the ingredients you’ll need to make a Heavy Metal Smoothie.
For the base you’ll need:
- 2 bananas
- 1 cup of orange juice
- 1 cup of Wild Blueberries
- Barley Grass Juice Powder
- Atlantic Dulse
When combining these ingredients you are giving your body a helping hand to eliminate and rid your body of the Heavy Metal Toxins. If you choose to make a Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie you’ll need to incorporate the ingredients listed above as each plays a vital role.
Wild Blueberries are incredibly important to help draw out the HM from your brain! The phytonutrients in each blueberry contain unique detoxing capabilities and are also antioxidants. Which will aid in receiving oxidative damage left behind from the heavy metal removal process. In fact, the power of blueberries has been linked to halting Alzheimer’s and dementia. Be sure to eat 1-cup daily for maximum results.
Spirulina: is a beautiful blue-green algae that helps to draw out the heavy metal toxins from the brain, central nervous system, and liver. Spirulina works in conjunction with Barley Grass Juice Powder to soak extracted toxins.
Barley Grass Juice Powder: has the ability to draw out heavy metals that have ventured to your spleen, intestinal tract, pancreas, thyroid, and reproductive system. See, these hEavy Metal Toxins work fast and invade our bodies from head to toe!
Cilantro: I’ll admit when I added the cilantro to this smoothie my hopes quickly faded until I took a sip and now… my taste buds can’t get enough. The Cilantro works as a deep cleaner and works had to remove the mercury your body has been carrying around. A hearty handful of cilantro in your smoothie is a great way to work in this happy little herb. Or, you could add cilantro throughout the day to your avocado toast, chili, guacamole, or salad.
Last but not least, Atlantic Dulse: is an edible seaweed that is incredibly powerful for seeking and removing mercury. Another deep cleaner for our digestive tract and gut. While ingesting mercury is cause for concern the natural mercury within Atlantic Dulse won’t be released into your body. Think of Atlantic Dulse as the “emergency backup” that hangs out and collects other heavy metals as they make their way out of the body.
Rather than source Atlantic Dulse, Spirulina, and Barley Grass Juice Powers individually, I opted to try a 10-smoothie mix. Following the recipe above from the Medical Medium, I added a serving of the packaged mix as directed. The smell of the mix reminds me of goldfish food – remember the flakes you’d feed your fair fish from childhood? Thankfully, the smell didn’t translate into taste and the overall combination was pretty tasty. I do recommend that you blend into a smoothie rather than mixing in a tall glass of water and drinking.
