Describe yourself in one Word: Overly Passionate – to a fault!
Sadly, even though her words sparked a fire within me, it would take 3+ years of crash dieting, excuse-making, and saying “tomorrow” for me to finally seek help from a coach.
And when I say, I’ve tried every crash diet on the market-I have!
Pills, shakes, starvation, binge eating, macro counting, high carb, low carb, and carb cycling. It wasn’t until I mustered up the courage to walk my size 18 self into a local gym and meet with a wellness coach that my life and relationship with food changed.
In the first 12-weeks, we met weekly for 15-minutes to discuss what or was not was working and address potential challenges for the week ahead. I remember clearly the first day of the program as I walked through the grocery store with the list of approved foods thinking I’d starve. Turns out, I had been denying my body, mind, and soul healthy, delicious, nourishing food. I was finally eating real food for the first time in my adult life.
After my own success, several of my fellow photographer and creative friends asked me how I transformed my health and wellness. Specifically, how I lost weight, increased my energy levels, and go on to have an incredibly successful year in business.
By sharing my story, I became curious as to how I could help others become the CEO of their own health & wellness. After a series of events (a story to come), I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and began studying for my Holistic Health Coaching Certification.
In addition to my Associate’s Degree in Photography, I also maintain my Holistic Health Coaching Certification from IIN and a Personal Trainer Certification from ISSA.
Photography has played a role in my life for as long as I can recall. From a young age, I was introduced to travel and exploring the United States, Caribbean, and Europe which always included carrying a camera to document our travels.
Following, high school, I knew my calling was photography and chose to attend the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where I studied a variety of photography genres – focusing my attention on fashion and food work.
After graduation in 2003, I returned to Central Pennsylvania and founded Amanda Kraft Photography. Since 2003 my team & I have photographed over 100 weddings, 150+ high school seniors, and various other portraits and projects along the way.
As of April 2021, the AKP Team and I have made the decision to officially retire from wedding and event photography to focus on stock photography, portrait commissions, consulting, and wellness work.
